Visit the Pines!

Understanding the schedules.

First, it’s good to know when you want to leave New York City OR arrive in The Pines.

  • QUICK TIPS FOR PLANNING AHEAD

    • Plan your commute backward, starting from the departure time of your preferred ferry.

    • Be certain you are reviewing the ferry schedule for The Pines. Click here for Sayville Ferry's schedule.

    • Check with Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) to see which trains meet up with your preferred ferry. Click here for the LIRR schedule.

    • Allow yourself 20 minutes for the shuttle bus to travel from the Sayville Train Station to the Ferry Terminal before ferry departure.

    • Yes, the ferry will leave on time.

    • Skip the LIRR ticket kiosk lines by downloading the MTA eTIX app to your phone and purchasing your tickets, saving you time.

    • Save on summer travel rates with the LIRR Beach Getaway. During peak summer season, the Beach Getaway package includes round-trip rail; round-trip ferry voucher, and round-trip taxi voucher. Packages can only be purchased at a ticket kiosk or window.

    • Leaving the Pines, if the ferry doesn’t line up with your preferred Sayville station LIRR train, check the Ronkonkoma station - sometimes cuts your travel time to NYC.

      • Plan for at least 20 mins travel time between Sayville Ferry and arrival to Ronkonkoma

      • Call Colonial Taxi to see if there are shuttles traveling to Ronkonkoma or use your favorite ride-share service. Please note there is an increased fare for Colonial Taxi to drive you to Ronkonkoma.

    • Pro Tip: Commuter Benefits

      • Are you an NYC commuter that travels to/from The Pines frequently?Does your employer offer commuter benefits, like Wage Works? Do you opt-in for the pre-tax Debit Commuter Card program?

Be sure to check your employer’s commuter benefit program, as LIRR and Sayville Ferry Service are approved providers for some programs.

You could be saving up to $1100 per year in taxes for this type of eligible commuting expense!
