FIPPOA Members Surveyed On Zoning And Building Issues

Do you believe that Fire Island Pines is over-built or on the verge of becoming so?  Are building and zoning standards adequately enforced in our community?  Have you been frustrated in obtaining a building permit or zoning variance from the Town of Brookhaven?  Should the commercial district in the Pines be expanded?  How close should a fence be to a boardwalk?  Is there architecture in the Pines that should be preserved?

All FIPPOA members are encouraged to answer these and many other questions in our Association’s first survey to determine community opinion and attitudes regarding a variety of building and zoning issues that affect our lifestyle and property values.  Developed by our Pines Zoning Advisory Committee, the survey is intended to provide direction to FIPPOA at a time when the Fire Island National Seashore is revising its General Management Plan for the first time in more than 30 years.  The Fire Island National Seashore must approve any changes to the zoning standards on Fire Island.

You may respond to this survey online through our website.  All responses are anonymous, and the deadline for responding is April 15.  Results and analysis of the survey will be reported at our Association’s Spring Meeting on May 15.

While the survey questionnaire includes the capability to make comments, any FIPPOA member may also direct comments or questions directly to the Zoning Advisory Committee at zoning@fippoa.org.
