All residents of the Pines are invited to a fundraiser for Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy this Saturday, July 12, from 1 pm to 2 pm at the home of Gary Groff and Michael Patten, 501 Bass Walk. Food and bar will be provided by Tony Roncalli and Eric von Kuersteiner. The FIPPOA Political Action Committee will make a $1000 contribution to Levy, who has been a good friend of the Pines for some time, first as our State Assemblyman and now as County Executive. He has consistently supported our beach renourishment efforts, sand replenishment at the Smith Point Beach to our east, and the Fire Island to Mountauk Point Reformulation Project (FIMP), for which Suffolk County will bear a percentage of the cost. Steve’s office is responsible for pre- and post-storm planning for Fire Island, and in the unfortunate event of a significant storm, his support will be critical to our efforts to safeguard and/or rebuild our community. In addition, Steve has been a consistent supporter of the rights of gays and lesbians. U.S. Representative Steve Israel will also visit the Pines and attend the event as a guest. Congressman Israel, a ranking member of the House Appropriations Committee, represents the western Fire Island communities and has always been a strong supporter of Fire Island. Contributors to Saturday’s fundraiser should make checks payable to “Friends of Steve Levy.” Since this is a State rather than Federal election event, contributions may be made by either corporate or personal check. The donor form below may be printed out to accompany your contribution.
